Insulation for Mildura and the Sunraysia

A house that stays cool in January and warm in July

Most homes around here were built with a thin layer of batts, or none at all. On a 44 degree afternoon the roof space turns into an oven, and in winter the heat you pay for drifts straight up into it. We fix that, usually in a day.

What type of home do you have?

Where the heat goes

Most of the problem is above your ceiling

In summer the sun bakes your roof and that heat pushes down into the rooms below. In winter it works the other way, and the warmth from your heater rises straight out. Tap a part of the house to see how much each one adds up.

Common problems

Signs your insulation isn't doing its job

If your house is more than 20 years old, the batts in the roof are probably thin or squashed by now. This is how it usually shows up.

01

The cooling can't keep up

Whether it's an evaporative or a split system, it runs flat out from lunch until bedtime and the back bedrooms are still hot. That's usually heat soaking down through the ceiling.

02

Cold mornings, even after the heater's been on

You heat the lounge at night and by 7am it's cold again. Without enough insulation overhead, that warmth ends up in the roof.

03

Your power bill keeps going up

Batts flatten and settle over the years, so your heating and cooling have to work harder to keep the house comfortable.

[stat]
04

Dust or droppings in the roof

Old insulation collects years of dust, and mice like to nest in it. We vacuum the lot out before the new batts go in.

FAQ

Common
questions

Can't see your question? Give us a call on [phone].

  • It depends on the size of the roof, how easy it is to get into, and whether old insulation needs to come out first. Once we've had a look, you'll get a fixed price in writing.

  • Maybe. Batts flatten and shift over time, and plenty of older homes around here only had a thin layer to begin with. We'll check and tell you straight. If what you've got is still doing the job, we'll say so.

  • Yes, and in Mildura that's when you'll notice it most. A well insulated ceiling slows the heat coming off a hot roof, so the house stays cooler into the evening and your cooling doesn't work as hard.

  • It depends on your house and your budget. For ceilings we usually quote [R-value options]. We'll explain the difference so you can choose.

  • Most roofs, yes. Some low-pitched roofs have very little room to work in, so we'll check that when we come out to quote.

  • Yes. We vacuum it out and dispose of it properly before the new batts go in.

  • Most homes take [X] day. You can stay home while we work.
